An artist should never say that their work sucks. That just lowers self confidence, which would already be low if they even think their art sucks.
You had pretty much never drawn Pokémon before so it was a new experience, basically practice for amazing things to come.
Pokémon fit your art theme so well; Cute, cuddly, and adorable. Also with Pokemon all of the designs are final, so unless you want a differently designed one you don't need to really think about it too much, just draw. That is why so many artists start with Pokémon.
TL;DR: I love this, it is adorable. You should try more Pokémon if you want.
